(and if you are waiting for a good hair day, it’s ok, you still have a couple of months, just make sure to get it done BEFORE May 1st, 2012)

Lockers!

Locker checks for the entire Neville Scarfe Building will be starting Monday January 23rd. Please ensure that you have registered your locker (submitted the form and paid the $10 fee.)

If you paid in September your locker has been registered for the whole year. If you have not submitted a form for your locker, please do so before Friday January 27th.

Locks on unregistered lockers will be removed.

Locker forms are available at the TEO on the main floor or the ESA office (the back of the room with the microwaves) in the basement floor.

Grad photos!

Artona will be coming to campus doing photographs for UBC Education in the Scarfe building on Tuesday, January 17th!

Prepare for your individual photo session with these tips http://artonagroup.com/programs/university/1?school_id=84205
Attend your photo session and bring your $60 refundable deposit (cash, cheque, credit accepted). Get some casual shots with your grad photos! Appointments are 10 minutes long and you will get a variety of poses with two backgrounds

All students in the Faculty of Education working towards their BEd should have their photos taken for the composite (so you can have your photo hanging on the wall in the Scarfe building, like all the ones on the second floor.)

Also, students are welcome to visit the Artona Studio anytime for the full photography experience, http://www.artonagroup.com/home/location

(you just need to let them know you are in the Education program from UBC)

WestCAST 2012

What? Western Canadian Association for Student Teaching – WestCAST – Conference
When? February 22 – 24, 2012
Where? Calgary, Alberta

Conference Theme: Engaging New Ideas in Education
Conference Challenge: How might we rethink the focus and practices of teacher education to explore emergent insights into learning?

In previous years UBC has had students/staff attend WestCAST, and there is some funding set aside to assist with costs for those wishing to attend.
It is held on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in February, but because this is a professional development opportunity, UBC students should be able to be excused from classes (or practicum) if they wish to do so.

Education Sweater Festivus

Celebrate the end of term with your peers and wear your favorite holiday sweater!
Cap off your day with a cup of cheer and a holiday treat alongside your peers and Education Faculty/Staff in the Education Student Lounge!
(This is a 19+ event and beverage tickets will be sold at the door to the lounge)

We will also have UBC Education merchandise available for sale (design sweaters, sweatpants and t-shirts)
